 2017 Preview

Red Level finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Red Level finished sixth in Class 1A region two with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Tigers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2010 season and would love to end that streak this year.

Since 2010, the Red Level football program has struggled with a record of 15-56.

Over the past 25 seasons, Red Level has managed to compile a record of 112-167. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 1A and 286th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2006.

James Wise resigned as the head football coach at Red Level High School after just two seasons. His teams finished a combined 7-13 and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Kenny Skipper, a 2001 graduate of the school takes over the football program at Red Level. Skipper has coach and taught at Straughn the past five seasons.

The Red Level Tigers will play in Class 1A region two during the 2017 season.

With a little luck and some improvement, the Tigers could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season. Red Level has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2010 but hope to return to the post season this year.

The Tigers open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Cottonwood on Friday, September 1 at Hicks Stadium. Last year the Cottonwood Bears finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 2A region two. The Bears closed out the regular season with a loss to Daleville by a score of 48-21.

Red Level and Cottonwood have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 0-3-0 record against the Bears. They last met in 2016 with Cottonwood winning by a score of 32-20.
